Koppert presents new mission at Fruit Logistica 2015

Koppert is playing an ever increasing role in boosting the sustainability of cultivation and the chain.

1/8/2015

By means of a holistic approach - combining knowledge, advice, and solutions - Koppert is playing an ever-increasing role in boosting the sustainability of cultivation and the chain. Koppert Biological Systems sees the results from the total approach it offers in the market. Koppert's customers tend to 'cultivate with nature' more often – and achieve a better match with the market.

'We must reduce the use of chemical crop protection agents, reduce the use of fertilizers, and achieve higher yields of better quality products if we are going to be able to continue to feed the world. Koppert intends to make a contribution to this, in the broad sense, together with our customers and other parties in the chain,' according to Peter Maes (Koppert's Marketing Director). 'Koppert recently expressed this "drive" in a redefined mission: Koppert contributes to better health of people and the planet. In partnership with nature, we make agriculture healthier, safer, and more productive. This is summarized in the motto: Partners with Nature.' For this reason, Koppert would be delighted to welcome you to a brand new stand at Fruit Logistica, where we would be more than happy to explain what we could do for you.

NatuGro cultivation system

The market is extremely active. The developments on the fruit and vegetable shelves are taking place particularly quickly. These shelves allow retailers to distinguish themselves with a fresh and tasty product, produced with minimal or no environmental impact, and guaranteed food safe.

In many crops and many countries, the NatuGro cultivation system has become a permanent fixture. Whether the crop is snack tomatoes or cucumbers in the Netherlands, blueberries in Chile, sweet peppers from Spain, or even the grass on the football pitch at Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, users of NatuGro are all enthusiastic about the results that NatuGro makes possible: a crop that is less dependent on chemical crop protection agents and artificial fertilizers. That leads to greater sustainability, to greater food safety, and certainly also to greater yields.

Soft fruit

NatuGro is also making a name for itself in blueberries, amongst other soft fruits and berries. The results speak for themselves. Growers in the Netherlands, elsewhere in Europe, and on other continents are seeing greater vigour in their crops, larger fruits, better use of nutrients, greater yields, crops entering their winter dormancy earlier (which is important for the production in the following season), and greater resistance to diseases and pests.

Greenhouse-grown vegetables

Impressive results are also being achieved in cucumbers, tomatoes, and sweet peppers. Stimulating the root environment makes the plants stronger and less susceptible to diseases. In cucumbers, for instance, NatuGro has given rise to more roots, greater vigour, increased leaf surface area, and much less susceptibility to Pythium.
