Organic farms can apply until 29 June for the Federal Organic Farming Competition 2019. Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner invites organic companies to submit concepts for the competition. "Vegetables, meats and processed organic produce are popular with consumers. In the past year, the turnover of the industry for the first time exceeded ten billion euros. Our local organic agriculture has a positive effect on the environment and insect diversity. Therefore, we will promote organic farming even stronger: from this year on, we will raise funds from 20 to 30 million euros. Our goal is to expand organic farming to 20 percent by 2030. The winners of the national competition for organic farming are role models with ideas: they provide important impulses for other farmers to switch to organic farming, "says Klöckner.
Until 29 June 2018, dedicated organic farmers can submit their ideas for the 2019 National Organic Farming Competition with innovative and forward-looking operating concepts. Wanted are unusual concepts that have proven themselves in practice. All companies that have been certified for organic farming in accordance with EU legislation for at least two years are eligible to participate. The prerequisite is that the entire farm is managed organically. An independent jury selects a maximum of three winning companies that receive prize money of up to 7,500 euros.
