Corteva Agriscience announces its global sustainability strategy with 14 commitments for the next decade

On its first anniversary, the company details 14 new goals focused on farmers, land, society and sustainable production that demonstrate its commitment to future generations.

Corteva Agriscience, a leading company in the agricultural sector in seed technology, crop protection and digital agriculture, today announced its global sustainability plan and commitments to the food ecosystem for the next 10 years. An advertisement that coincides with the first anniversary since its launch as a globally listed and independent company.

This commitment includes new objectives that represent progress in sustainability, grouped into four key pillars: farmers, land, society, as well as the company's sustainable production process. In addition, improvements are included for soil health, optimization of productivity in the field, climate change, water management, biodiversity, transparency throughout the supply chain and worker safety, among others.

Together for a better future

Corteva works day by day to promote a more responsible, sustainable and enriching food system for our lives and for the planet, and to this end has developed a series of sustainability goals for 2030 at a global level focused on four key areas of the sector:

For farmers:
  1. Train 25 million farmers on soil health, nutrients and water resource management, as well as best productivity practices.
  2. Increase the productivity, incomes and sustainable agriculture practices of 500 million small farmers.
  3. Train farmers so that they can sustainably increase the yield of their crops by 20%, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20%.

    For the land:

  4. Improve soil health on 30 million hectares.
  5. Optimize water resource management by accelerating improvements in nitrogen use efficiency and reducing water consumption (thereby increasing crop yields) on two and a half million hectares of seed production and land affected by the water deficit.
  6. Improve biodiversity by optimizing more than ten million hectares with sustainable land management practices and habitat conservation.

    For society:

  7. Protect the health and safety of its employees, as well as that of other workers in the agricultural sector.
  8. Continue to empower women, empower youth, and have the communities in which they live and work.
  9. Your employees around the world will dedicate a million hours to this effort.
  10. Help farmers increase the transparency of their supply chain.

    For sustainable production:

  11. Each new product will be adapted to these new sustainability requirements.
  12. Strengthen the control and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions on your farms and supply chain.
  13. All packaging must be reusable or recyclable.
  14. Reduce waste, conserve water and improve biodiversity at your sites.
Corteva's 10-year commitments will provide tools and training to help optimize the profitability of the field, inputs, improve resistance to climate change, and also focus on people. In this sense, the company will continue its work of defending and protecting employees and the agricultural community in general. In addition, regarding its commercial operations, the company is committed to innovating in a sustainable way, establishing a strategy to alleviate climate change, using sustainable packaging and increasing sustainability efforts at all its headquarters and production centers.

A process towards sustainability that will be reported on an annual basis through a sustainability report, to report transparently on the achievements obtained around the established objectives.
