Dutch Agriculture Minister brings to the Commons Chamber a program to promote the reduction of chemical pesticides The 'Implementation Program for Future Vision of Plant Protection 2030' aims to further research and pilot projects to arrive at an agricultural practice that requires the least possible use of chemical pesticides. 9/28/2020
Today Minister Schouten for Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlands sent the "Implementation Program for the Future Vision of Plant Protection 2030" (UP) to the Commons Chamber. The parties involved, Agrodis, Artemis, CTGB, Cumela, Fedecom, LTO Nederland, Natuur en Milieu, Nefyto, NVWA, Plantum, Unie van Waterschappen, Vewin, the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Management of the Water work together, to make a transition with a series of main tasks. In the implementation program, the path to the future will be determined as previously foreseen in the future vision of crop protection 2030 by the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Minister Schouten: "I really appreciate the way so many different parties have worked together to make this implementation program a reality. We all need each other to keep agriculture and horticulture future-proof and in balance with nature, the environment. environment and our living environment. This task should not be underestimated, but if everyone involved continues to take these steps, together we can go a long way. " All parties involved in the UP work together in an agricultural practice related to nature, in which only phytosanitary products are used that cause practically no emissions to the environment and leave practically no residues in products for food consumption. For this reason, efforts are being made to switch to resilient growing systems in which plants can be cut down and fewer chemical pesticides are required. This is an important goal as the required systems, knowledge and technologies are not yet available or are only available to a limited extent and therefore need to be (further developed). The UP describes various measures to stimulate the development of resistant varieties through breeding, innovative cultivation concepts, and the stimulation of natural pesticides. Care is also taken to ensure a level playing field within and outside the European Union. 12 million euros available The implementation program places great demands on the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative strength of both the agricultural entrepreneurs and all other parts of the chain. The LNV minister wants to support him and, therefore, is making available an amount of 2, 4 and 6 million euros for the period 2020-2022. This means, among other things, that research (practice), monitoring and various pilot projects can be funded in different sectors and regions, each of which requires its own approach.
