During a videoconference held today in the presence of the ambassadors of the two countries, Didier Guillaume, french minister of Agriculture, and the minister of Commerce and Industry of Singapore adopted a joint declaration whose objective is to facilitate relations between French operators and Singaporean importers and to meet Singapore's strategic objective of securing its food supply. Didier Guillaume underlined that “this declaration makes it possible to give new impetus to our agrifood exchanges with this area and to strengthen our partnership with Singapore. ”

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of containment measures, Singapore found itself faced with disruptions in its usual supply chains.

Through its Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the city state has expressed interest in signing a bilateral declaration with France to secure its supply of food products by French companies.
To date, more than one hundred French agrifood companies have already expressed their interest in exporting products to the city-state in this new context.

To support interested French exporters, a specific organization has been put in place which relies on the France Export Agro Team, in order to offer support tailored to businesses (principle of free services, virtual catalog of French offer, put in contact with buyers, on-site monitoring missions in early 2021).

The adoption today of the joint declaration by the ministers formalizes this strengthened partnership with Singapore in the agri-food sector.
This action will facilitate the commercialization of agrifood companies, importers and distributors in the 2 countries and encourage them to find partnership opportunities.

For Didier Guillaume, “this action constitutes an exemplary pilot initiative, the fruit of an active collaboration between the public authorities and professionals in the sector, which should make it possible to offer new export outlets for certain French agrifood sectors. It is fully in line with the objectives of reviving our economy ”.
