The coronavirus epidemic has prevented many businesses from developing in Israel. Many workers are still at home, some are unemployed, and others are forced to be isolated due to infection or fear of infection. To meet all these needs, Israeli agriculture continues its work. However, after some of the restrictions imposed, such as restricting the entry of foreign and Palestinian workers to the State of Israel, many farmers have become distressed by the shortage of labor. Thus was born the initiative to help volunteers. In order to incentivize non-profit organizations involved in recruiting volunteers for agriculture, the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture has issued new support to help finance expenses related to the needs of volunteers in agriculture during coronavirus days. The success of the program in the past month, and the lack of a full return of agricultural labor, has led the Ministry to double support, amounting to another 6 million NIS (Israeli sequels) to support non-profit organizations. of profit, in addition to the 6 million NIS already approved in March and April. According to the Ministry's data, 1,200 workers have volunteered every day for the past 6 weeks to work in agriculture, which has in fact saved the citrus industry, which was at the height of its harvest days. . Thanks to the many volunteers, 80% of the harvest in the industry has already finished. Now, we are on the doorstep of the summer fruit harvest, which is primarily based on Palestinian workers. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, there are already some 2,500 volunteers in the various agricultural sectors, and the Ministry estimates that with the publication of the final support procedure, there will be another increase in the number of volunteers and during the period of volunteering. As part of the support, the firm will help finance the logistics costs associated with volunteering, such as: transportation for volunteers, accommodation, drinks and food supplies, purchase of safety and protective equipment for volunteers, including: alcohol, cleaning materials , masks, gloves and thermometers.
