Portugal approves a subsidized credit line for the cut flower and ornamental plant sector This subsidized line of credit is granted for a period of four years and the total amount of the loan, per beneficiary, is 20,000 euros. 9/18/2020
The Portuguese Council of Ministers has approved the decree-law that creates a line of credit, with subsidized interest, for a global amount of 20 million euros, aimed at producers of cut flowers and ornamental plants, to face their difficulties, due to the current situation facing the country caused by Covid-19. This subsidized line of credit is granted for a period of four years and the total amount of the loan, per beneficiary, is 20,000 euros. In this context, it is intended to make available to the producers of the sector, at reduced costs, the financial means necessary to maintain the activity, which allows them to settle or renegotiate debts, with suppliers of production factors, credit institutions or other entities . authorized by law to grant credit. The amount of the individual credit of 20,000 euros, per beneficiary, translates into the maximum amount of subsidy granted to interest, corresponding to a discount rate of 80%. "This is a measure that aims to generate cash conditions for the recovery of a very important sector that does not use other support resources and was severely affected by this pandemic," explains the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Antunes.
