More than a thousand participants registered in the 11th National Maize Colloquium of Portugal

The National Association of Maize and Sorghum Producers of Portugal, ANPROMIS organizes, on March 5, the XI National Maize Colloquium, which will also be the I Cereal Crops Meeting. So far, 1000 participants have registered for this online event that marks the current state of the agricultural sector in Portugal.

“The cultivation of corn mobilizes people and stimulates initiatives like no other in Portugal. The excellence of the panel of speakers, national and international, and the timeliness of the topics under discussion are generating great expectations throughout the agricultural sector. The high number of participants in the colloquium and the alliance of the main companies in the sector as sponsors are proof that the cereal sector, and corn in particular, is alive and dynamic and plays a crucial role in our agriculture and food " , says Jorge Neves, president of ANPROMIS.

International analysts, policy makers, farmers and industry will discuss in this forum the future of the world cereal market, the challenges of the new Common Agricultural Policy and the management of water in agriculture in the context of climate change.

The panel on the world grain market will discuss the opportunities and challenges for producers and the industry, in a favorable international environment, especially due to the boom in demand for meat and cereals from China, which will undoubtedly have a direct impact on the rise of agriculture. commodity prices on world markets.

It is also with great expectation that the presentations of the head of the European Commission, Pierre Bascou, and the director general of the GPP of the Ministry of Agriculture, Eduardo Diniz, on the Common Agricultural Policy are expected, considering that in the calendar of the Tripartite Negotiations - Commission-Parliament-Council-, led by the Portuguese Presidency of the EU, is expected to reach a political agreement next May.
