A bilateral meeting has been taken place in Tunisia, between the Italian Minister of Agriculture and the Tunisian Minister Belaati. "Food safety, cooperation between companies in the agricultural and agri-food sector and the regulation of migratory flows are at the center of the political agenda of Italy and Tunisia. The promotion of relations between the two countries, in these areas, has been at the center of the fruitful meeting I had this morning with the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Abdelmonem Belaati. The agricultural sector, in fact, plays the role of the main asset of the two economies for our nations. The partnerships, starting from exchange of knowledge on innovation and new technologies, will therefore be strategic for the implementation of the Mattei Plan and thus ensure support for economic and infrastructural development and combat food insecurity, thus guaranteeing good food for all. Among the themes, we also addressed that of research for the management of water resources, with particular attention to the use of waste water and the construction of desalination plants to address climate change". Thus the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, after the bilateral meeting held in Tunisia with Minister Belaati. "The trade exchange with Tunisia has enormous potential and ample room for growth. With my colleague Belaati we discussed the possibility of strengthening the exchange of information, also to guarantee farmers' income. Finally, we addressed the issue of the overabundance of blue crab in the waters of the Mediterranean. Tunisia has transformed it into a commercial opportunity, the same path that we have decided to take in Italy, without forgetting, however, that this challenge can only be won with everyone's collaboration", concluded Minister Lollobrigida. Following this, Minister Lollobrigida, Deputy Prime Minister Tajani and Minister Calderone met with the Tunisian President, Kais Saied, for the signing of the memorandum on the promotion of regular migratory flows.
