More than 30 thousand coffee growers from the south and cerrado of Minas Gerais, the middle of Mogiana in the state of São Paulo and Matas de Minas will meet in search of sustainable solutions and actions for coffee crops, during Femagri 2024 – Machinery, Implements and Agricultural Inputs, organized by the coffee cooperative Cooxupé, in Guaxupé (MG), from March 20th to 22nd. The public's expectations, according to the organization, must be confirmed by the fact that cooperative families are looking for solid alternatives to further increase sustainability within the properties, as well as boost productivity.

“Femagri is aligned with the demands of the global market and with an eye on the future, which is why this year it brings the theme ‘Cooperativism: building the sustainable future of generations’. The focus is on the sustainability of coffee production to show members the importance of commitment to environmental, social and economic issues”, highlights the president of Cooxupé, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo.

The search for sustainable solutions will take place in an area of 107 thousand square meters, with the presence of 120 exhibitors, in addition to Cooxupé's own spaces such as the traditional Fazendinha (barn of guidelines and sustainable alternatives for coffee cultivation) and Protocolo Gerações. This is the sustainability pact developed by the cooperative, in partnership with SCS Global Service, to show and direct cooperative families how to comply with the protocol requirements and raise sustainability levels on their properties, to supply sustainable coffee from the point from an environmental and ethical perspective to the global market.

“Sustainability is of great global relevance and producers need to be aware of this essential reality for coffee farming. ESG practices are naturally linked to our activities, but we are always bringing news and knowledge to our members for increasingly efficient production in terms of technology, machinery and implements”, explains president Carlos Augusto.

“Neutral Seal” for the second consecutive year

Committed to neutralizing carbon emissions, Femagri has, for the second consecutive year, the “Neutral Event” seal. The certification, granted by Eccaplan, comes from compensating greenhouse gas emissions during operations generated at the fair. The voluntary program consists of quantifying greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be avoided and that, in the same proportion, are subject to environmental compensation.

Femagri 2024 is open free of charge to Cooxupé members and coffee producers.
