Agriculture is consolidating its position as a driving force of Colombia's foreign trade: in May, exports increased by 26.2% In May of this year, exports of unroasted coffee increased by 61.7%; palm oil and its fractions by 53.9%; flowers and foliage by 5.6%; and coffee extracts, essences, and concentrates by 36.8%, among others. 7/8/2025
Despite the slight decline in national exports in May, the agricultural sector in Colombia continues its growth trend. According to the most recent report from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) and the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), a total of $1,319.6 million worth of agricultural products, food, and beverages were sold abroad in the fifth month of 2025, representing a 26.2% increase compared to the same month last year. According to this report, this result is explained by the increase in exports of unroasted coffee, up 61.7%; palm oil and its fractions, up 53.9%; flowers and foliage, up 5.6%; and coffee extracts, essences, and concentrates, up 36.8%. Furthermore, this growing trend in agricultural exports confirms the dynamism that the primary sector is bringing to the economy, thanks to the reactivation policies led by the Government of Change and strengthened by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Proof of this is that, from January to May of this year, foreign sales grew 36.7%, with exports totaling $6,401,902, compared to the same months in 2024. Also notable is the growth over the last 12 months, with foreign sales of agricultural products, food, and beverages totaling $13,209,313, an increase of 26.8%. Regarding this outstanding performance in agricultural exports, Colombia's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Martha Carvajalino, stated that "this is due to the strong commitment of the entire National Government to diversify markets to all possible regions of the world. We continue to join forces, not only in the agricultural sector but also with all government entities, so that the countryside continues to feed Colombia and the entire world. That is the reason for the Revolution for Life."
