The Ministry of Agriculture of Colombia continues to promote the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform by promoting the coffee agro-chain of almost 800 peasant families in Cauca, members of the National Association of Peasants of Colombia -ANUC-, with an investment of $6,121 million.

“The peasant associations, and especially the ANUC, are very important for the Government and for the country, from them we have learned the desire and need for Agrarian Reform.

We learned from him the need for assemblies, for organization, for peasant strength to get through that chapter of the horrific war. And it is precisely because of their resilience that this delivery is so significant, because it is the debt that the State owes to this population,” said the Minister of Agriculture, Jhenifer Mojica.

The goal of this project is to promote the industry and the Colombian countryside through strengthening the coffee production system through productive assets for the benefit and drying of the grain, provision of nine collection centers, implementation of a productive technical assistance plan. and environmental that improves the skills and capacities of producers, and an associative strengthening plan.

“On behalf of the Government, today I want to apologize to the peasants and, especially, to the ANUC, for the crimes that were committed against you. Supporting them now is the only thing the State has left after allowing them to be displaced and violated. You are the basis of the Agrarian Reform and we are going to promote your projects,” said Luis Higuera, president of the Rural Development Agency.

The municipalities to be intervened are located in the northern, central and western areas of the department of Cauca: Cajibío, Timbío, Caldono, Silvia, Piendamó, Morales, El Tambo, Rosas and Patía; areas in which coffee has been for many years the main productive line that energizes the peasant economy and that today, with this commitment, directly impacts 234 families and indirectly impacts 565.

In this way, the Agriculture sector works to generate comprehensive agricultural and rural development projects with high impact for the peasant, family and community economy.
