During a busy weekend in EU trade relations with third countries, CELCAA (the European Liaison Committee on Agricultural and Agri-Food Trade) welcomed the news of a political agreement, or "agreement in principle," in the EU-Indonesia FTA negotiations. "This paves the way for the final conclusion of the negotiations, expected in the coming weeks," they stated.

According to the statement, with a population of over 285 million, Indonesia is a net importer of various agricultural products and represents a huge opportunity for EU businesses. "As the global trade landscape becomes increasingly defensive and isolationist, CELCAA members are reassured to see the EU and a major partner country choosing a path of openness and shared future prosperity. A strong agreement will create the conditions for smoother trade relations and, ultimately, a more resilient supply chain," they stated.
