Ukraine prepares its adaptation to EU standards for potato exports

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, EU norms and standards are gradually being incorporated into Ukrainian legislation.

During the recent meeting of the working group chaired by the director of the Department of Agrarian Development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Ihor Vishtak, the development of the industrial potato production industry and preparations for the opening of exports of fresh potatoes to the EU.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the public sector and the Ukrainian Association of Potato Growers.

As noted by the participants in the meeting, one of the important tasks of the industry is the adaptation of phytosanitary requirements to the norms and standards of the European Union. This will allow Ukrainian producers to export fresh and seed potatoes to EU countries.

According to Ihor Vishtak, EU norms and standards are gradually being incorporated into Ukrainian legislation. He also reported that potato producers can benefit from the “5-7-9 Available Loans” program and assistance from the Fund for the partial guarantee of loans in agriculture, as well as receive a government subsidy for the creation, processing or storage of products. , which is provided for the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
