Cologne IHK presents award to DEUTZ for the fifth year in a row.

During its annual ‘best of’ awards ceremony, the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) recognised a DEUTZ skilled metal worker apprentice and DEUTZ itself as a vocational training provider as being among the best in their field. For DEUTZ, this is the fifth year in succession that it has received this accolade.

These accomplishments also meant that DEUTZ was pitted against the winners from all 16 chambers of industry and commerce in North Rhine-Westphalia. And here too the metalworking apprentice and DEUTZ were among the winners of the ‘best of 2015’ awards. The awards ceremony, entitled ‘Big Stage for the Top of the Class’, took place on 20 November 2015 at the Metronom theatre in Oberhausen. At last year’s event, a DEUTZ apprentice was named the region’s best production mechanic.

“We are delighted to be regarded once again as one of the best providers of vocational training in Cologne and North Rhine-Westphalia. This recognition validates our belief in offering well-rounded apprenticeships with high-quality learning content. Our apprentices benefit from this as much as we do as a company,” says Dr Margarete Haase, member of the DEUTZ Board of Management responsible for finance, human resources and investor relations.

Frank Opitz, head of the DEUTZ training centre in Cologne, added: “We are proud that our young recruits regularly deliver excellent results and in doing so lay a solid foundation for their future careers. It’s fantastic that our hard work in this area has been recognised.”

DEUTZ AG in Cologne offers apprenticeships in four different vocations, with a choice of careers in metalworking, electronics, mechatronics or warehouse logistics. In order to get more young women interested in engineering careers, DEUTZ regularly takes part in the Girls’ Day initiative. The company also takes part in the annual Erlebnis Maschinenbau programme, in which young people are given their first taste of work at an engineering company. In addition, DEUTZ carries out vocational training on behalf of other companies.
