French horticultural sector was particularly affected by the health and economic crisis of Covid19. Administrative closings for health reasons at the outlets led to the horticultural industry being shut down for several weeks. The spring period is crucial for its annual turnover. The companies had to destroy the run-of-the-river productions since they are perishable, and for that, they had to maintain jobs and therefore expenses.

Faced with this particular situation, the government has decided to open an exceptional compensation scheme. A national support measure linked to part of the destruction of these plants was announced yesterday by the French Minister, for an amount of € 25 million.

This system complements all of the transversal support measures for businesses (partial unemployment, solidarity funds, export guarantees, future exemptions from social charges, etc.) already implemented by the government.
