The first international Digital Agrifood Summit Portugal meeting will be held from January 20 to 23, 2021

The agri-food sector in Portugal is committed to maintaining the strong growth rate experienced in the last decade, which currently represents more than 10% of total Portuguese exports.

Portugal is much more than sun, beaches and an idyllic enclave. Its strategic geographical location, with more than 1,000 km of coastline and a mild climate, as well as its modern and innovative production fabric, places the European country as a major exporter of food that is a guarantee of quality throughout the world.

Fruits, vegetables, fish, preserves, meats, oils, confectionery and other quality products that now reach 185 international markets. With an export value of 6.5 billion in 2019 and an excellent forecast for 2020, the agri-food sector in Portugal is committed to maintaining the strong growth rate experienced in the last decade, which currently represents more than 10% of total Portuguese exports.

PortugalFoods, Inovcluster, Agrocluster do Ribatejo and Portugal Fresh constitute the Portuguese Agrofood Cluster, grouping all the quality food export offer, which will be promoted in the I Edition of the 'Digital Agrifood Summit Portugal', an event that will take place from January 20 to 23 of 2021.

The Digital Agrifood Summit Portugal is organized with the support of the Secretary of State for Internationalization and the Ministry of Agriculture of Portugal, AICEP (Aicep Portugal Global - Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency) and FIPA (Federation of Portuguese Agro-Food Industries) .

“The current context imposes restrictions on mobility, but this should not stop the export drive of our companies. With this event, we want to take advantage of the opportunities that digital environments offer us and continue building relationships of trust with international buyers. ”, Said Amândio Santos, President of PortugalFoods and head of the Portuguese Agrofood Cluster. “Our main destinations continue to be the European Union and countries like Brazil and Angola, with whom we have a historical relationship. However, we are seeing very interesting growth in countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, the US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Algeria or Morocco. Our objective with this first international meeting is to continue consolidating our position in all of them, whether they are traditional destinations or new markets. "

The digital event is presented as a global meeting that will include a virtual showroom of quality products on a platform in which the exhibiting Portuguese companies will hold business meetings with buyers from more than twenty countries around the world. In parallel there will be thematic workshops and a space dedicated to current trends. All this to bring the unique properties of Portuguese foods closer to international buyers.
