Brazilian agribusiness exports were a record for the months of June in this month of June 2020, with foreign sales records of $ 10,170 million. There was a growth of 24.5% in relation to exports in June 2019 (US $ 8.17 billion). According to the Agribusiness Balance Bulletin, published last Friday by the Department of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (SCRI-Map) of Brazil, in no year of the historical series (1997-2020), the Agribusiness exports exceeded $ 10 billion in June. The main sector responsible for export growth was the soybean complex. Foreign sales in the sector increased from 3,530 million dollars in June 2019 to 5,420 million dollars in June 2020, representing an increase of 53.4% or almost 1,900 million dollars in growth in absolute values. In comparison, agribusiness exports grew by $ 2 billion compared to June 2019 and June 2020. The export of soybeans in grains (13.8 million tons) had a great influence on these values, reaching 4,670 million dollars in June 2020, with an expansion of the amount of 5.2 million tons in the comparison of the months of June 2020 and 2019. SCRI also highlights the resumption of sugar exports, which increased by almost 1.5 million tons in the two periods. China was the main country responsible for the expansion of the volume exported by Brazil, acquiring 70% of Brazilian soybeans in June. The Asian country also increased purchases of Brazilian agro-industrial products by $ 1.3 billion between June 2019 and June 2020: 65% of the growth in absolute values of Brazilian agribusiness exports was observed between June 2019 and June 2020. The Brazilian agribusiness increased its participation in Brazilian exports from 44.4% (June-2019) to 56.8% in the surveyed month. In turn, agribusiness imports decreased from $ 984.55 million (June 2019) to $ 826.28 million in June 2020 (-16.1%). Therefore, the balance of the balance reached 9.3 billion. Alcohol and sugar The sugar and alcohol complex was the sector that had the largest percentage increase in exports among the main export sectors of Brazilian agribusiness, increasing 74.5% in the comparison between June 2019 and June 2020, of US $ 536 , 12 million to 935.37 million dollars. Cane sugar exports accounted for most of the value exported by the sector, with $ 810.80 million (+ 80.4%) and almost 3 million tons exported (+ 94.8%). Alcohol also registered an increase in sales abroad, going from $ 85.83 million (June 2019) to $ 122.71 million exported in June this year. According to SCRI, the growth of Brazilian sugarcane exports is related to the breakdown of 2019/2020 sugarcane crops in India and Thailand, which allowed exports to be expanded to various markets. Indonesia is a market that did not import Brazilian sugar in June 2019 and acquired $ 86.78 million last month.
