The Israel Ministry of Agriculture's Plant Protection and Audit Services have recently completed preparations that will ensure the continued export of Israeli plant products (fruits, vegetables, spices, flowers, seedlings, seeds and propagating material) to the UK. The UK decided to withdraw from the EU (Brexit), ending 47 years of membership in European institutions, after which the rules for exporting Israeli agricultural products to the UK changed and the database of export declarations that forms the basis for the issuance of health certificates was updated accordingly. The Ministry of Agriculture has been working in recent months on export deals to the UK, including England, Wales and Scotland, and updated that Northern Ireland remains under the EU phytosanitary envelope so no changes or adjustments are required to the export policy made by Israel. for this purpose. Thanks to the preparations, the British will continue to receive the Israeli "star": the avocado.

Therefore, Abed Gera, Director of Plant Protection and Audit Services of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has indicated that "upon completion of the in-depth study of the new UK requirements, the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented the conditions in the continued export system to this destination despite changing conditions. "

Thus, the United Kingdom adopts most of the requirements of the European standards for the export of fresh produce and reproductive material, as well as the existing trade agreements between Israel and the European Union. In most cases, there is no change in the nature of the health declarations and the nature of the requirement, but only in the wording of the declaration that will appear on the health certificate that accompanies the delivery of the product. However, Israeli farmers will receive a relief in terms of exporting part of the fresh fruit under UK law, as no health certificate is required for products such as persimmon, figs, lychee, mango and passion fruit. A fact that will save exporters a step in the bureaucracy against the United Kingdom.
