Peruvian Senasa implements system to improve the competitiveness of Hass avocado in the international market This new procedure will improve the timely attention of inspection services, especially during extraordinary hours where the demand for inspections often increases, to avoid losses due to delays in inspection and to facilitate exports. 11/28/2024
The Peruvian National Agrarian Health Service - SENASA of MIDAGRI announced that the implementation of the 'Traceability System' for the export of fresh fruit destined for the international market is underway, which began with the export of mango and, starting in December of this year, will be for the export processes of Hass avocado. Ensuring the traceability of export products is essential to be more competitive in international markets, due to the capacity to respond and implement corrective actions in the event of a phytosanitary alert in the destination markets. This system will prevent the misuse of production site codes as in previous campaigns, affecting avocado producers. On the other hand, after having carried out exhaustive evaluations of personnel, SENASA authorized independent third-party professionals to carry out phytosanitary inspections in export shipments, production sites and cold treatment. This new procedure will improve the timely attention of inspection services, especially during extraordinary hours (holidays, weekends) where the demand for inspections often increases, to avoid losses due to delays in inspection and to facilitate exports. In order to make the aforementioned processes known, and in order to keep representatives of producers, exporters and packers informed and to popularize the use of the system, SENASA is developing face-to-face training in the Hass avocado producing areas of Apurímac, Huancavelica, Cusco, Ayacucho, among others; it has also been developing multiple virtual talks aimed at the general public. To use this new system, SENASA users must enter the following link https://controldeguias.senasa.gob.pe/login, where they will also find instructions that will allow them to orient themselves during its use. It should be noted that, in order to increase the number of authorized third-party professionals, SENASA has been conducting training nationwide.
