The British Carrot Growers Association (BCGA) will hold its flagship event, the 2025 Demonstration Day, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, near Honingham, Norfolk, at the facilities of this year's host, Tompsett Growers. Recognized within the industry as a key event in the UK agricultural calendar, the Demonstration Day offers a unique opportunity for growers, agronomists, and industry professionals to view and compare over 80 carrot plots, featuring both established and innovative varieties. New for 2025, the BCGA will also conduct a parsnip trial at a nearby location, providing a better understanding of root crop development. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the latest breeding innovations while delving deeper into the diversity and resilience of the UK carrot industry. The day also features a comprehensive exhibition area, designed to encourage networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across the industry. This year's Demo Day sponsors are Elsoms, which will host a Networking Breakfast; BASF | Nunhems, which will provide lunch; and Hazera Seeds, which will curate the event program. Justin Solly, Vegetable Sales and Marketing Director at Elsoms, said: “At Elsoms, we are incredibly proud to be a trusted partner in the UK carrot industry. Our work with carrot varieties is driven by innovation, quality, and grower needs, but our support goes beyond seed. We are committed to supporting crop associations that champion the future of the industry. By contributing to the funding pool, we are investing in the resilience and long-term success of UK carrot production. Collaboration is key, and together with Bejo, we are proud to contribute.” Naz Ahmed, Customer and Value Chain Marketing Director at BASF | Nunhems said: “We are excited to sponsor this year’s British Carrot Growers Association Demo Day, a highlight in the UK root crop calendar and a fantastic celebration of the people, passion, and progress that drive British vegetable production. It’s also a great opportunity to unveil Ambyance, our newest carrot variety: a versatile, high-performing Nantes variety designed to meet the needs of the future. We will also be showcasing our latest crop protection innovations, including a new virus control solution and a Revysol-based fungicide. We are proud to support UK growers and be part of a community driving the future of food.” Celebrating British Carrot Day – October 3, 2025 This year's Demonstration Day will lead directly into British Carrot Day, which returns for a second time on Friday, October 3, following its successful launch in 2024. British Carrot Day celebrates one of the UK's most beloved vegetables and seeks to raise awareness of its nutritional value, its role in animal feed, and its importance to British agriculture. It also highlights the challenges faced by farmers, such as the low profitability of a high-risk crop, and the need to boost carrot consumption in British homes. We encourage everyone to join the celebration by sharing their favorite carrot dishes on social media using the hashtag #TheLoveOfCarrots. Participation Exhibition opportunities remain for the event, which is free for BCGA members and £30 plus tax for non-members via Eventbrite.
