The Russian production of winter vegetables increases by 8.4% so far this year compared to the same period in 2020

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects that by the end of the year, the harvest, based on cucumbers and tomatoes, will exceed 1.4 million tons.

Since the beginning of the year, in Russia 842,100 tons of vegetables and green crops have been grown in winter greenhouses, which is 8.4% more than in the same period of 2020 (777,000 tons), being the harvest of greenhouse cucumbers of 507,700 tons (+ 1.8%), and that of tomatoes 317,500 tons (+ 19.7%).

The ten leading Russian regions in production are Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the republics of Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects the positive dynamics to continue by the end of 2021; when according to the forecast, the greenhouse harvest of winter crops will exceed 1.4 million tons.
